Welcome to our Circus of Disbelief project- Extracts from our brief

Interactive film images: Clara Garcia Fraile

Annually The BRIT School strands collaborate to produce a theatrical extravaganza which is performed for the public in two locations, Bloomsbury and Fairfield Halls. It is a vital part of the schools advertising campaign and community outreach, Fairfield Halls performance being for the benefit of hundreds of primary school students.

This year the title of the performance is The Circus Of Disbelief and a small group of 11, Year 12 BTEC National Diploma Art and Design students are to produce several animations that will be integrated into the performance. The Circus Of Disbelief investigates themes of refugee children in an urban contemporary environment. Students are required to produce animations of: A running horse, a trapeze artist and a high wire artist.

This is a community project and will involve teaching a series of workshops at Rockmount Primary to Yr6 students. Students need to devise, plan and teach workshops that will create the images for the final animations. The intention is that the primary school students will view the final animations at Fairfield Halls.

On completion of the workshops, students will collaborate with an artist, Clara Garcia Fraile, to produce 3 interactive animations. They will be working to tight deadlines and be expected to produce professional, dynamic outcomes that represents the Visual Arts and Design departments creativity, forward thinking and willingness to take risks.
